Testing is the first step; it shouldn’t be the hardest

Does your water have a foul odor or taste? Does it irritate or dry out your skin? Or have you noticed excessive scaling or corrosion in your pipes and appliances? These are all common issues that we’ve solved for homes like yours.

Our home water test is performed entirely in your home by one of our expert technicians. After we know what water imbalances we’re dealing with, we’re able to install appliances and chemistry to correct whatever issues your water may have.

Water Testing in Your Home

Water changes according to its environment. So, even though municipalities and districts are required by law to provide compliant, clean, and safe water to the surrounding area, the quality of your water changes as soon as it reaches your home. This isn’t an issue of the water being hard or soft, but its actual chemistry changing in response to the piping, connections, or appliances in your home.

That’s why we test your water right then and there from multiple points in your home. This variety gives us a precise and comprehensive view of the chemistry of the water throughout your home and how it's changing.

We test for the following:

Water Conditioning for Homes

It is important to test your water to diagnose what needs to be done to balance your water. You may have heard that all you need to balance your water is a water softener. While a water softener may be helpful in some cases, it can actually make matters worse if you don’t know the underlying issue.

It is much more than if your water is hard or soft; it has to do with the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and the Potential for Hydrogen (pH) of your water.

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)

TDS refers to the amount of dissolved minerals in your water. The ideal TDS level is between 50 and 500. If the TDS is too high (more than 500 mg/L), the water will taste bitter and cause more scaling. If the TDS is too low (less than 50 mg/L), it means the water is mineral-deficient and will try to balance itself by leaching minerals from surrounding solids, like pipes, appliances, or even worse, you.

Potential of Hydrogen (pH)

We measure the pH, a scale of 0-14, to see how acidic your water is. If the pH dips below 7, your water is acidic and can corrode and damage your pipes and appliances. Numbers higher than 7 contribute to scaling and possibly indicate the presence of contaminants.

Knowing the chemistry of your unique water environment allows us to do some amazing things. We can do much more than simply make your water soft. We can make it balanced, non-corrosive, and we can even tailor your home’s water to the taste of your favorite bottled water.

After we know the chemistry of your water we can recommend a number of professtional-grade water quality products and systems that will correct a broad range of issues including: sediment, color, odor, hardness, chlorine, and other contaminants such as heavy metals, arsenic, lead, cysts, pesticides, herbicides, and pharmaceuticals.
